Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
In this policy, "ScreenWarden", "we" and "us" mean the publisher of ScreenWarden for Roku, reachable at help@screenwarden.app. This policy explains what information ScreenWarden for Roku (the "app") and the website screenwarden.app (the "site") handle. The short version: the app keeps its data on your own PC, talks only to Roku devices on your own network, and sends nothing to us.
1. The app
We do not collect your data. ScreenWarden for Roku has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting. We never receive your settings, schedules, logs or device information.
What the app stores on your PC. The app saves the following in the app's private storage in your Windows user profile. It never leaves your PC unless you copy it yourself:
- The Roku devices it has found on your network (model, serial number, network address) and any nicknames you give them
- Your rules, bedtime schedules, wake-up routines, launch schedules and monitoring settings
- A history of app usage on your Roku devices (which app was running and for how long), kept for about 90 days, used to apply daily limits
- Activity logs and security alerts (for example, failed password attempts)
- If you turn on the password feature, a salted hash of your password and of your backup code. The app does not store them in readable form
What the app sends over the network. The app communicates only with Roku devices on your local network, using Roku's local control interface, to find devices, read which app is running, and send commands such as launching an app, going to the home screen or powering a TV off. This traffic stays inside your home network. The app does not contact our servers or any internet service.
Removing your data. You can delete a device and everything associated with it from within the app (Devices → Reset All Data). Uninstalling the app from Windows also removes all of its data.
Your Roku devices. Your Roku devices connect to Roku and to the streaming apps you use under those companies' own privacy policies. ScreenWarden does not control or receive that data. It only reads what each device reports on your local network, such as which app is open.
2. The Microsoft Store
You get the app through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft collects information about your download and installation under its own privacy statement, which we do not control. If the app crashes, Windows may offer to send an error report to Microsoft under your Windows diagnostic settings. We may see aggregate download and crash statistics that Microsoft provides to app publishers in Partner Center. These do not identify you.
3. The site
The site is a static information page. It does not use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics, and fonts are served from the site itself. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical request data (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
4. Email and the feedback form
If you use the feedback form, your browser sends the type of message, your name (if you give one), your email address and your message to ScreenWarden's feedback service on Cloudflare, which emails it to our support inbox. The form does not store your message on the website, and it does not use cookies or tracking. Cloudflare processes the request under its privacy policy.
If you email help@screenwarden.app, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to improve the app, and we do not sell or share it. We delete support emails when they are no longer needed.
5. Children
ScreenWarden for Roku is a tool for parents and caregivers. It is installed and operated by an adult on a PC and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. The site likewise does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
6. Security
Because data stays on your PC, its protection depends on your PC's security. The optional password feature limits who can open and change ScreenWarden, but it is not a substitute for a Windows account password and it does not prevent someone with administrator access to your PC from stopping or removing the app.
7. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If a future version of the app collects any data, this policy will be updated first and the change will be described in the app's Store listing.
